About: Testimonials
Below are just a few of our happy clients. Please take a moment to read these testimonials. Perhaps they even describe you!
I came to Nutrition and Diet Counseling Associates after years of compulsive eating. I struggled with overwhelming feelings of guilt and desperation, sure that I would never be able to control my eating habits or my weight.
Alexis Beck helped me to understand my thoughts and feelings so that I could begin to change my relationship with food. I am no longer afraid of my own compulsions. I've learned to enjoy eating without binging and I've found healthier ways of expressing my feelings than through food.

I have been seeing Alexis for almost two year now; she has truly helped turn my life around. She has helped me understand that neither food nor my body is the enemy. I love food, I love to eat. I disliked my body and the way it look and I had a love/hate relationship with food.
I started to see Alexis, who was recommended to me by my doctor, because I got fed up. I was almost 30 years old and was taking a good look at my life. I realized that I was almost 30, had been 'fat' since I hit puberty at 11. I was done. No more. I refused to spend my life obsessed about the way I look and what I eat. This is when I decided to go see a nutritionist.
From the first visit on, I was 'hooked'. Alexis' philosophy is to reconcile her clients with their bodies, for her clients to learn to accept and love their bodies and make the best with what they have. Alexis helped me understand how my body works, she helped me understand why I was eating the way I was (big time emotional eater!), she helped bring my body to a 'comfortable' healthy and beautiful level, she helped me feel comfortable within my own skin and take ownership of my life again.
My birthday is next week and believe me, I am going to have cake and I am going to enjoy it for what it is.
I would recommend her in a heartbeat probably to everyone. It is almost inevitable in our society today to develop warped relationships with food and body image. I would say that Alexis is a life saver in the sense that becoming comfortable with one's body and to sop obsessing about food and diets, allows one to truly enjoy life, lose weight and order your disordered eating.
I really can't say enough about her. I think that a traditional nutritionists who tells you to go on a diet and then are done with you do not work. Alexis takes a 'whole life' perspective and it is the only perspective that will truly help take ownership of your body and your eating.

I decided I wanted to see a nutritionist - my doctor referred me to Alexis. I knew that I needed to do something different to lose weight and more importantly to keep it off.
The process was surprisingly simple. Early in the process, we carefully looked at what I ate, when I ate, and why I ate. We created the menu together and it was tailored to my eating preferences and tweaked to minimize fat or carbohydrate intake. At first I thought, "I can not do this ...". Alexis has the remarkable ability to make 'dieting' painless. She works with you to make sure that you feel satisfied throughout the day so that you don't overeat.
I have been seeing Alexis for about one year now; I have exceeded my weight loss target and I am not at all deprived. I am in complete control of my eating and that makes me in charge of my weight and it feels terrific!!!
The best part of this whole thing is that I don't cringe when I look in the mirror.
Alexis' process is about the individual. I view her role as a guide to help you embark on this discovery process. I found Alexis to be non-threatening, extremely approachable, and very knowledgeable. I feel like I am completely equipped to maintain my weight for the rest of my life. Thank you Alexis!

Once I entered high school in the 80's I knew something was wrong with my eating habits. There would be times when I would eat a meal a day, but I never thought twice about it due to the compliments I received for losing a few pounds. When I entered college in 1988 I had no idea of calories burned vs. calories consumed and gained the freshman 15 plus come. By senior year I had enough of the excess weight and began to exercise compulsively and ate one meal a day. Once again my weight dropped, this time to the lowest it had been since Junior High school and I felt great and in control. That summer after graduating I took it to an all time low of 90 pounds and looked in the mirror only to see pockets of fat. The summer before my marriage, 1996, I was living off of one ear of corn and abusing laxatives. Sadly I had to hit absolute rock bottom before I picked up the phone to call Alexis Beck's office, and that was back in 1997. I can honestly say that when I spoke to her over the phone I felt that I had finally found someone who understood me and wouldn't judge me. I found hope for the first time in 10 years. I had seen a few nutritionists before and once I was ordered to eat steak and peanut butter I found every excuse not to return. Alexis is the one woman who understood my fears and worked with them and me. I still see her today and it's now 2003. Alexis has been my north star for the past 6 years. Not only did I learn why I was anorexic, but I also learned how to beat this horrible and sometimes deadly disease. Two years ago I gave birth to a beautiful, health baby girl and I gathered the strength to leave a destructive marriage. I can honestly say I never knew happiness until today and I still pinch myself some mornings. For the first time in 32 years I can look at myself in the mirror and smile back at the reflection I see. Thank you Alexis for giving me a second chance at life.

I have spent decades either dieting or bringing, with very little balanced eating in between. I lost weight on all the programs, but never completed any nor maintained the weight loss for any significant time. Even chronic high blood pressure and a heart attack were not motivation enough for me to end the cycle. Only a tearful plea from my daughter who feared for my life, led me to Alexis Beck, a very wise and compassionate nutritionist, who listened to my story. Alexis gently unfolds each layer of history and behavior and helps me sort through the issues of emotional eating. She is truly invested in the process and is as intrigued in what we discover as I. She grasps the confusing and highly volatile issues and makes the understandable and acceptable, lighting the path and connecting the dots. She does this with compassion and clarity and humor. This is a unique process which extends beyond just weight issues, as somewhere along these past six months, and 45 pounds of weight loss, my life has become more centered. No Weight Watchers meeting or Phen-fen program ever did that.

My name is Samantha Quint and I have been working with Alexis Beck over the past two years, since I was twelve years old. She has been a big help towards my success at weight loss. Alexis taught me many things, like what foods to cut out of my diet that have made a huge difference. She also taught me about portion control, entity food, and how to maintain my diet both at school and when I am out with friends. I have learned so much from her that I feel like I have the ability to control my own weight. In fact, now I feel like weight loss is simple. Overall, I have lost twenty five pounds, and I am very close to reaching my ideal weight.
